@InfiniteMischief Acually, if we used silver as currency, it would also be subject to inflation. Most silver is used for industrial applications, therefor, in an expanding economy, more indusrial activty would lead to a shortage of silver, thus resulting in inflation. Much the same way growing corn for ethonol reduces the amount of acres that can be used to grow food corn (you can’t eat the ethonol corn), thus resulting in higher prices for food stuffs.

Everyone was not violent. But it only takes a few people to sway the behavior of a large group. It’s called mob behavior and is well documented in books and academic journals.
Maybe that was why people were taking sterios, tvs, etc. things that didn’t work at the time because there was no power for a month.
